PLAIN JALEBI How to Prepare -Make -Cook ?

PLAIN JALEBI Recipe

Ingredients:

• 1 kilo rice flour;
• ¼ kilo rava;
• 1 kilo sugar,
• a few drops yellow food colouring;
• silver or golden foil;
• a pinch of baking powder;
• ghee.

Method:

1. Put enough hot water in rava to make a thick batter.
2. Cover and set aside for the whole night.
3. Next morning add to the rice flour, baking powder and colour.
4. Add more hot water if the batter is too thick.
5. Then heat enough ghee for deep frying to smoking, lower the heat, then pour the batter through a coconut shell with a hole or through a cloth bag with a hole to form patterns.
6. Fry till crisp, do not brown.
7. Drain and put into the prepared syrup.
8. To make syrup put 1 glass water in sugar and cook over a slow fire till thick.
9. Remove from fire and keep it warm.
10. Let the jalebis remain in the syrup for 5 minutes, then put them ina clean plate after draining them from the syrup and cover them with foil.
11. They taste better when served hot.
