KHAJUR HALWA How to Prepare -Make -Cook ?
KHAJUR HALWA Recipe
Ingredients:
• 500 grams dates;
• 250 grams grated coconut;
• 250 grams khoya;
• 250 grams sugar;
• 1 tsp cardamom powder,
• 1 tsp. Essence of kewda or rose;
• 100 grams ghee;
• 25 grams charoli;
• 25 grams almonds. blanched and halved;
• Silver foil,
• A few drops orange red food colouring.
Method of cooking khajur halwa
1. Remove stone from dates and grind to a paste, then fry in little ghee
till dry.
2. Now put in khoya, coconut, sugar and cardamom powder and cook till
the mixture turns thick.
3. Mix in colour, essence and charoli, then go on adding a little ghee
at a time.
4. When all the ghee is used up and it starts leaving the sides of the
vessel, remove from fire and put in a greased thali.
5. Garnish with almonds and cover with foil.
6. Cut into small squares when cold and store in airtight tin.
