CHESTNUT HALWA How to Prepare -Make -Cook ?
CHESTNUT HALWA Recipe
Ingredients:
• 500 grams shingada or chestnuts;
• 500 grams sugar,
• 1 tsp. Essence of rose or kewda;
• 25 grams charoli,
• 1 tsp. Cardamom powder;
• 250 grams khoya;
• Silver foil;
• Ghee.
Method:
1. Peel and grind the chestnuts to a paste.
2. Heat 4 tblsps. Ghee and fry the chestnuts over a slow fire to a nice
red colour.
3. Put in khoya, sugar and cardamom powder and keep on stirring till the
mixture turns thick and leaves the sides of the vessel.
4. Mix in Charoli and essence and remove from fire.
5. Put in a greased thali, cover with foil and set aside to turn cold.
6. Cut into any shape you like and store in an airtight tin.
